Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire a love of theatre and the performing arts in children at the youngest possible age, through education and complete immersion, to build the foundation for a life long appreciation for the performing arts.

I think it’s about our spirit and our health. It’s about how much we expose young people to arts education, to music and to poetry, to theatre and ballet. And this isn’t about people who want to go into the Arts, this is about what it does to people’s sense of confidence, to people’s sense of self esteem, to what they can learn about themselves.
— Kevin Spacey, on the threat to cut arts funding.

Theatre ARts Academy

YPT’s Theatre Arts academy teaches children as young as three years old the fundamentals of dramatization and instructs older children in acting, performance and musical theatre. Advanced students from the age of nine are invited to audition for main-stage plays, where they have the opportunity to join our Repertory. The Academy also sends teachers into schools to conduct acting and creative play workshops.

children in need

Founded on the belief that all children need exposure to live theatre, YPT maintains an Outreach Program. Over the past eight years, the Program has donated more than 20,000 tickets to over 30 Bay Area community organizations, giving children, without other opportunity, the rare chance to see live theatre with kids just like them on stage.
